Rough and Dry Skin Solutions
(previously published in The Experts Magazine)

You may notice that your skin feels rough and dry, and your favorite lotion doesn’t seem to do a thing.

What you may be missing in your skin care routine is exfoliation. It’s very important to slough off the dead skin cells on a regular basis. During the cold, dry weather, it is even more important to exfoliate. Those of you that tan throughout the winter will benefit from regular exfoliation to keep that healthy glow. It is also important to get rid of old, dead skin cells before applying self-tanning lotions; otherwise you can end up with a mottled look.

There are many products on the market that will slough off dead skin, but one of the best and most inexpensive ways is to use an exfoliating glove.

Simply soak in the tub for 10 minutes (don’t soak for too long, or the skin will wrinkle up like a prune and will actually dry out.) make sure the water is warm. (hot water will also dry out the skin).

After soaking, put on the gloves, pour a little body wash onto the glove and scrub all over. This invigorating scrub will increase the blood flow to the skin, which nourishes skin cells, and removes waste and toxins.

Unlike the loofa mitts, exfoliating gloves are safe to use on the skin, as they don’t scratch the surface and they don’t harbor bacteria.

Rinse the skin, towel dry and apply your favorite hydrating lotion.

To clean, just throw them in the wash and they are good as new.

Your skin will look soft, smooth, glowing and fresh. Look forward to some “me time” in the tub. So…get glowing!
