Please, just because you are crazy busy with all your spring projects, don’t pick out a color from a picture on a box and do it at home. Y
ou may think you are saving time and money, but there is a very good chance that you are heading for disaster.
There are too many factors to consider in choosing a hair color and it really is best left to do the professionals to do it. Otherwise you could be spending even more time and money to get it re-colored.
When doing your consultation, your colorist will need to consider what you want, what you are working with, and how you are going to achieve it.
- What color will suit you? This is extremely important, as everyone wants a flattering look. Consider your face shape, skin tone, and the type of cut required to show off the color and pull it all together.
- What are you working with? What is the natural color? Is there a previous color? Remember, pigments in the artificial color are made to work with pigments already existing in your hair. The wrong combinations can produce a disastrous result ( for example, a color with a blue base will produce a green tone when used on the underlying yellow, pigment in blonde hair)
- In what condition is your hair? If it is prelightened to achieve a high lift blonde, will the hair maintain its integrity?
- What techniques are involved in applying the colors? Skill and training are definitely involved in this one.
- Consider personality and lifestyle. Some colors are very high maintenance. Once you achieve this color how much time and money will be required to keep it?
Wow, there is a lot involved in achieving a great hair color. Maybe it’s time to phone your stylist to make an appointment for a consultation. Remember we are an affordable choice! Now you are on your way to a great new look. Afterall, it’s spring and color is in the air.
