Blow Drying Hair
(previously published in The Experts Magazine)

Q: I like to blow dry my hair and use a round brush to help smooth it out. But I’m worried that the heat is too damaging for my hair. Is there a safer way to style my hair?

You are right. The heat can be damaging to your hair. However, new technology has come to the rescue with the new ionic blow dryers. According to the material data, this is how it works. As the air blows out of the dryer, it becomes negatively charged. The energy released by these negative ions is so strong that it can break large water molecule clusters into tiny particles that can be absorbed into the hair shaft. As water gets infused into the hair the cuticle tightens and seals in the moisture. Hair is immediately revitalized, strengthened and restored from the inside out.

We have a great little retail ionic dryer at Masters School that is lightweight ergonomic handling. A special switch with a light indicator controls the ion emission fixture. There are 3 heat settings and 2 speed settings plus a cool shot for setting the style. These are features just like the “pro’s” have on their dryers. All-in-all, it’s good value for the money and would make a great Christmas or Birthday gift for a friend or relative.

Another invaluable tool for maintaining the integrity of your hair while allowing your desired style, is a ceramic barrel hot brush. Ceramic radiates faster drying far-infrared heat which dries hair from the inside out, preserving more moisture within the hair shaft and causing less damage to the cuticle. These round brushes come in different diameters from small to extra-large, depending on the length of hair and amount of curl or smoothness desired. We can help you choose the right size and show you the best method to use to achieve your look.

Another important consideration is the thermal protector products at Masters School. We carry AG which has a line of products that can be mixed into a “cocktail” for your hair. For instance you can mix the Insulate with Liquid Varnish to get heat protection plus great shine. Or try Set-It-Straight with Details for a smooth straight look. Recoil will maximize your curls as you scrunch dry. The possibilities are endless.

Check out the new technology available and have fun with your bouncy, healthy hair
